ANNOUNCING-FORTHCOMING
Beth Baird’s Soon to Be Released Love & Other Myths
Pasadena, CA., December 3, 2024: Award-winning poet, Beth Baird, announces the forthcoming release of her first poetry chapbook, Love & Other Myths which chronicles with poetic, visual, and lyrical honesty a journey of personal discovery of love and marriage juxtaposed amidst the harsh realities of interracial marriage, family, and life-threatening illness.
“Bill and I share a love story,” relates the author. “We cherished our relationship not knowing the big whammy headed our way that would paralyze our future.” Documenting the sentiments of a bonding love, Ms. Baird’s poems entrust us with her personal experience on a passage through her marriage and family. She chooses three sets of marriage vows in which to infuse her poems: ‘to love and to cherish’; ‘for better or worse’; and ‘in sickness and in health’.
“These poems of an interracial love that created a family are a moving tribute to both the suffering and joy that infuse a relationship. We follow Beth Baird on a journey that began in promise and led through long periods of despair as her husband suffered a severe stroke that impacted everything in their daily lives. The poems are honest and unflinching. The book is a testament to her love for Bill and the family they created, as well as the never ceasing realities of race in this country.” -Susan Sherrell, author of the mystery, Grace
